(Mini Art + E-Commerce Basics)
In this focused, small-scale studio series, students will create ACEOs (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) — miniature works of art that measure exactly 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the size of a trading card. Artists around the world use this format to produce collectible originals and small editions.
Working within a fixed format encourages precision, thoughtful composition, and creative restraint. Students will explore drawing, painting, collage, and print-based approaches while learning how to sign and number their work as original pieces or limited editions.
This class also introduces the basics of how art circulates online.
Students will learn:
• How to compose strong work within a small format
• The difference between originals and editions
• How to sign and number artwork
• How pricing works
• How to photograph small artwork clearly
• How an online shop functions
• What platform fees and shipping actually involve
At the end of the series, student ACEOs will be listed for sale through a dedicated selling feature on the SHoMA website via Squarespace. Students will see how listings are built and how transactions move through a real online storefront.
Participation in the online sale is optional. Students may choose to keep their work.
Tuition Credit Opportunity
If a student’s ACEO sells, a portion of the proceeds will be applied as credit toward a future SHoMA class. This allows students to experience the full creative cycle from making to presentation to reinvestment.
This is a contained, thoughtful introduction to miniature art and creative e-commerce — not a hustle class, but a practical exploration of how artists move work into the world.
