  • Kristina Gibb Photography New Hope, PA (map)

Dates: Thursdays, March 19th - April 9th
Time: 3:45–4:45 PM
Location: Solebury House of Movement & Art (SHoMA)
Cost: $150 (4-week series)

This playful girls-only class introduces students to classic improv and theater games that build confidence, focus, collaboration, and creative presence.

Each week, students warm up with group games that encourage listening, eye contact, and ensemble awareness, then move into short-form improv activities that explore character, relationships, and storytelling. There are no scripts to memorize and no pressure to perform. The emphasis is on being present, supporting others, and making strong choices in the moment.

Through games that involve movement, imagination, and quick thinking, kids learn how to:

  • Listen and respond in real time

  • Work as part of a group

  • Take creative risks without fear of being “wrong”

  • Use body language, voice, and imagination to tell stories

This class is a great fit for girls who love storytelling, comedy, movement, or drama — and also for those who are shy or hesitant and want a low-pressure, encouraging environment to build confidence and social ease.

No prior theater or improv experience is necessary.
The focus is on play, process, and connection, not performance.

What to bring: Comfortable clothes to move in and a water bottle
Class size is limited to keep the experience focused and supportive.

Why a girls-only space?

Improv and theater ask kids to take creative risks in front of others, and that kind of performing can feel vulnerable, especially at this age. A girls-only space creates a sense of safety and trust that allows students to relax, be themselves, and try things they might not attempt in a mixed group right away.

When girls practice with peers who feel like friends, they’re more willing to speak up, move boldly, make mistakes, and laugh them off. That sense of comfort is often what allows real confidence to grow. Once kids feel secure in their voice and choices, they’re better prepared to bring those skills into any performance or social setting.

This class is designed to be a supportive place to build confidence first, so the art form can feel empowering rather than intimidating.
