Starting the first week of February, SHoMA is offering a playful, movement-based improv and theater games class designed to help kids build confidence, collaboration, and creative presence.
Through classic improvisational games and theater warm-ups, students practice listening, responding, and supporting one another in real time. There is no memorizing lines and no pressure to perform. Instead, the focus is on imagination, ensemble work, and the joy of making things up together.
Each class will include physical warm-ups, group games, character play, and short-form improv activities that encourage quick thinking and teamwork. Kids learn how to take creative risks, trust their instincts, and stay present —skills that translate far beyond the stage.
This class is a great fit for kids who love storytelling, movement, comedy, or drama, as well as for those who are shy and want a low-pressure way to build confidence and social ease.
No prior theater experience is necessary. The emphasis is on play, process, and connection rather than performance.
What’s included: guided instruction, all activities, and a supportive studio environment
What to bring: comfortable clothes to move in and a water bottle
Register: Venmo @kristinagibbphotography with the class name and your child’s name & age
